The basic strategy to win at blackjack is to have a total card value that is closer to 21 than the dealer, without going bust. If the dealer goes bust as well, blackjack favors the dealer. The basic blackjack strategy reduces the House Edge i.e. the percentage advantage casino has over the player on a particular bet, to the minimum. The game begins with a player placing his bet. The dealer passes two cards each to the players and himself. The player’s cards are usually face up cards, while the dealer has one card face up i.e. Up Card and the other face down card i.e. Hole Card.
Players can use blackjack strategy charts to obtain the best decisions based upon the game situation. The charts include the solutions as when to Hit or Stand. Other options such as Splitting and Doubling Down are also recommended in these charts. The blackjack strategy cannot eliminate casino advantage, but decreases it down to 1%.
7 GOLDEN Rules of Basic Blackjack Strategy:
Stand on 12 if the dealer’s up card is 6 or lower
Hit when you have 17 if the dealer has a 7 or higher
Hit with soft 17 or less and stand on soft 18 or more
Always Split a pair of Aces and 8's
Split if you have a pair of 7's against a dealer’s 7 or less
Never take Insurance or Even money
Double down on 10/11 if your card total is higher than the dealer’s up card
To make proper decisions, you need to remember the basic strategy charts inside and out.The easiest way is to remember the blackjack chart is to look for logical patterns in the charts that helps to understand why each play is made.
Blackjack Card Counting:
It is done by assigning a value to all cards in a deck and writing them to form known as the count. Using the count, a player determines when the best time to place larger wagers is. The count runs in a plus-minus format with the higher the count meaning chances of the player to win. This is because the lower value cards have already been dealt out so there is a better chance that the player receives a high value card when the count is high.
